A virtually invisible filter can be built into lenses to eliminate the amount of reflecting light that enters the eye. Polarized lenses not only reduce glare, they make images appear sharper and clearer, increasing visual clarity and comfort. Available for prescription and non-prescription sunglasses, polarized lenses can be worn indoors by light-sensitive people, including post-cataract surgery patients and those continually exposed to bright sunlight through windows. 

Most polarized sunglasses provide UV protection which is important to maintaining healthy eye sight. Just as we put on sunscreen to protect our skin, it’s critical that we protect our eyes from UV rays too. 

Yes, all Hobie® Eyewear sunglasses block 100% UVA, UVB & UVC and provide protection against potential damage to your eyes.

A UV ray is ultraviolet light that is produced primarily by our sun, these rays are invisible and pose a major risk factor to your skin and eyes. Most polarized sunglasses provide UV protection which is important to maintaining healthy eye sight. Just as we put on sunscreen to protect our skin, it’s critical that we protect our eyes from UV rays too.

Hobie® Eyewear's advanced hydro/oleophobic lens coating, HydroClean™ is applied to the front of our lenses and designed to shed water, salt, dirt, grime or other substances you may encounter on your adventure.

Adding even more protection from extreme or adverse outdoor conditions, HydroClean™ 360° is applied to both the front and back of our lenses.

While Hobie® Eyewear polarized lenses offer remarkable impact-resistance and scratch-resistance, they should be treated carefully to ensure many years of use. To help protect your eyewear from damage, please follow these guidelines:

• Never lay the lenses face-down against any hard or abrasive surfaces.
• Always store your eyewear in its protective case.
• Always clean the lenses with a soft lint free cloth and quality lens cleaner; alternatively, they can be rinsed with warm water. Never use a paper product, such as paper towels or tissues, or other similarly abrasive materials to dry your eyewear.
• Do not attempt to adjust your eyewear yourself. Please visit your eyewear specialist for any required adjustments.
